Including: The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Frank Sinatra, Jr., Woody Herman, Smokey Robinson, Gamble and Huff...Just to name a few. For most musicians my age their first memory of being inspired to perform was seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.Me, it was artists like Otis Redding,Sly Stone and the O'Jays on shows like the "Midnight Special" and of course who can forget Saturday morning "Sooooouuuuul Train".Soul music hit me from a very young age.I grew up in a musical household where everyone played music. An older brother and sister turned me on to all the great music of the 60s and 70s. Actually I snuck into their bedrooms and played those 45s over and over again whenever they were not around and just absorbed all the great stuff from that era.My parents were into jazz, big band, classical so I got exposed to all kinds of musical styles and learned to love it all. As I started to write songs in my 20s these kinds of soul influenced songs just started coming out.I had to write a whole lot of bad tunes before I came up with what I considered to be some good ones that fit into the classic soul sound. Some of these songs found their way onto the new CD. When people ask me to describe my music I tell them "if Joe Cocker and Aretha Franklin hooked up, my music would be their love child". Tracy is a A beautiful and powerful Soul / R&B voice with a stage presence unlike any other. Equally adept at singing Rock and Jazz as R&B, Tracy has been a "first call" from New York to Philly.
